Volunteer Thank You at Putnam House
October 7, 2007

October 2007

Work is winding down on the Putnam House.  All exterior work, including the deck, front porch and landscaping is essentially complete.  All that remains is the driveway.  Most of the interior work is complete also except for some additional trim and touch up paint.    All that remains is some additional interior trim in closets and pantries, some final caulking, touch up paint and a variety of punch list items.

There will be regular workdays for at least the next two weeks and volunteers are needed.

On to the next project

August 7, 2007

Since the last report, we have patched the exterior walls, completed the exterior paint, completed about 60% of the interior paint, installed window and door trim and installed all kitchen and bathroom fixtures.  We are currently working on some wood work (hand rails and columns) on the front porch, tile on the bathroom floor and walls and finishing up the interior paint.

In the next couple of weeks, we will be installing floor tile in two rooms, installing interior doors and trim, installing floor molding and starting on the deck.

June 24, 2007 - Putnam House

Thanks to the hard work of a relatively small group of dedicated volunteers, progress on the Putnam house is going well.  We have completed all sheetrock work, kitchen cabinets and have a coat of primer on the exterior.  Over the next couple of weeks, we will be installing fixtures in the kitchen and bath and painting the exterior and interior.

We will soon be starting on the interior floors and are in need of volunteers with some experience with tile and wood flooring.  We also need someone with masonry experience to do some patching of exterior walls.

We will continue to have regular workdays on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays until further notice.  Workdays usually start at 8:30 am and last for four or five hours.

June 13, 2007

Since the last report, we have completed most of the new sheetrock and patched existing.  All sub-floors are complete.   Soffits and facia should be complete by this weekend as well as new cabinets and fixtures in kitchen.

Exterior has been washed and is scheduled for painting this weekend.

Next comes the interior paint, finished floor, interior doors, trim and the bathroom.

We continue with regular workdays on Saturday mornings at 8:30 am, and on most Tuesdays and Thursdays."

May 14, 2007 - Putnam House

We are a bit behind schedule on Putnam due to some unanticipated problems and lack of volunteers.  However, thanks to a few dedicated volunteers, we are making progress.  All demolition is complete.  All electric, plumbing and hvac is roughed in.  New windows are in place.  We have completed some structural repairs to roof and flooring and we started the installation of sheet rock and insulation in the kitchen area this weekend.

We did suffer a bit of a setback this weekend; three windows were broken by vandals.  I will be checking on our insurance options this week.

Schedule calls for all sub flooring and the installation of soffits and kitchen cabinets to be complete this coming weekend.

The attached photos are of activity at Putnam from the weekend of April 14.  Note demolition  with assistance from the American Medical Womens Association from FSU and other volunteers.

Should be complete with demolition next weekend.  Windows are in place and rough plumbing is complete.  HVAC rough is scheduled this week.

Workdays planned for every Saturday until further notice, beginning at 8:30 am.

March 30, 2007 - Putnam House

We did get the fines waived and have closed on the house.  Volunteers have been working on the house for the last three weeks and have made significant progress with the demo.  Temporary power is in place and we have received proposals for electric, plumbing, HVAC work and for new windows.  The good news is that these contract proposals, taken in total, are several thousand dollars less than our budget for same.  Anticipate that all of this can be completed within the next month.  Please note to date deck, soffits, some facia, interior cabinets and fixtures (except tub), interior door frames and paneling in NE bedroom have been removed.  The lot has been cleaned, shrubs trimmed, grass mowed and all volunteer growth has been removed from the house and yard.  Eight (8) sub-floor panels as well as a toilet, kitchen sink and some floor tiles (donated by Mark) are on site.
